The work consists of the design of the external lightning protection system (LPS) to be installed to protect the new SMR Radar serving the Control Tower.
The lightning protection system was sized as a result of the Lightning Risk Assessment specific to the type of structure, the type of activity carried out, and particularly the risk of loss of public service.
The air-termination system consists of No. 6 jointed air-termination rods arranged on the top of the Radome and No. 8 side rods arranged along the circumference of the Control Tower.
The placement of the capturing rods was done by going to use the rolling sphere method. This method consists of going to use a rolling sphere of radius 20m to which corresponds a protection level I.
