Among the projects for private individuals handled by La SIA, the complete renovation of a two-story apartment with a rooftop terrace, located in the town of Arezzo, stands out. Originally, the property had the sleeping area on the top floor and the living area on the lower floor.
After careful analysis, the client chose, in collaboration with our designers, to reverse these functions.
This solution allows the living area to be directly connected to the rooftop terrace, thus enhancing the outdoor space, while the large square footage of the lower floor was allocated to a sleeping area, designed to provide comfort and privacy for the whole family.
The organization of the spaces was inspired by the master of twentieth-century American architecture, Frank Lloyd Wright, and his Prairie Houses, in which the fireplace occupied a central position as a family gathering place.
Similarly, the living area of this apartment, characterized by a square floor plan and generous dimensions, is developed around a central block, an architectural element that changes its appearance and function depending on the environments that surround it, creating fluid and open spaces that promote conviviality and visual continuity.
On one side the block presents the large fireplace serving the sofa and dining area, and on the other side it transforms into a bookcase serving the relaxation/reading area.
From the dining area there is access to the spacious kitchen with direct access to the terrace, which is partly covered so it can be used year-round.
