PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Use of a web-based application for digitizing and BIM reproduction of all the information needed to store, manage, categorize, analyze, and make searchable all the data of telecommunication infrastructures distributed throughout the country.

ARCHIVING

Underlying the application, a series of relational databases are developed that contain all the information at both the site level and the individual digital component level. This information will then be “fed” to other components of the application to visualize and manage the sites of the entire housing stock.

MANAGEMENT

All of the information retrieved from the various DBs will be used to both streamline asset management and plan individual site project activities. In fact, the management of this information is enabled through an “authentication” system, which allows registered users, to access or modify the information present, based on their level of access.

CATEGORIZATION

Properly storing information in the various DBs is certainly one of the main components of this application, but what will enable efficient data analysis is the categorization process. This process is used to “discretize” the data based on their type and/or nature, and this step is critical to really take advantage of this tool.

ANALYSIS

Complementing the main functionality of the application is data analysis, which is possible through the development of the “components” listed above, such as storage, management and categorization. Data analysis then, will be done by “cross-questioning” the information present, using block diagrams, infographics and tables.

DISPLAY

All BIM models then, are “converted” using a set of APIs provided by Autodesk, to be viewed and queried via browser. In this way, it is possible to select the digital components of each model and read its characteristics, including also all the dimensional and positioning information, which were entered upstream with BIM authoring software, specifically Autodesk Revit.
